Patterns and Beliefs

Pattern picture for blog

In my last blog I talked about choices. We always have choices and can choose to look at things in a positive or negative way, or choose to react to a situation with anger or understanding. What you choose most often becomes a pattern of behavior.  Patterns of behavior develop attitudes that define our perspective as we move through our life.

Do you automatically get angry when things do not go your way? Do you worry about everything in your life or live life in fear of when the next shoe will drop? Are you overwhelmed with responsibilities? Have you become constantly bitter or resentful of others because of past perceived grievances? Do you just keep trying and trying, yet never seem to get anywhere?

We can easily get stuck in an “attitude” or way of dealing with life because of our most prevalent choices. These choices are most often just a reaction of how we have always dealt with a situation because of beliefs we hold deep in our subconscious mind. These beliefs are most often formed because of parental behavior or experiences from our early life. Beliefs such as “I am not safe.” can cause a person to be overly cautious in every situation, and keep them from venturing out into something new because of fear. It could keep them from creating meaningful relationships for fear of getting hurt. A belief of “Everything is my fault.” creates a pattern of taking the blame for everything and creates other beliefs of not being able to do anything right and fosters emotions of guilt and shame.

Unfortunately we don’t act primarily from our conscious thinking mind. Our conscious mind wonders why we created the same situation again.  It understands we need to do things differently but can’t figure out why we are unable to make a different choice. Most of our actions come from the subconscious mind. As we go through our day, we are faced with many decisions and situations. Our subconscious pulls from our past experiences, things we have observed from others, and our beliefs systems to make split second choices. This is one of the reasons why making lasting change is so difficult!

By releasing these negative beliefs you can stop the automatic reaction cycle and create new healthy patterns.  You can then move forward in a different way than before. It still requires choices, but letting go of the old beliefs gives you the option to make a different choice much easier.

One of the best ways I have discovered to let go of old patterns and beliefs that are limiting our growth is a system called Three Dimensional Therapy or T3 for short. I have been using this system for the past two years and have found it to be extremely helpful in the lives of my clients and my own life and family. By releasing negative belief systems and putting in positive ones, we are freed from the automatic reaction cycle. Once freed, the next time you are faced with a similar situation where you have an opportunity to choose differently, you are able to stop reacting and make a conscious change for the better.  As you continue making better choices, a new pattern will eventually become established and your life will change for the better.
